Sound familiar?

  • The strapless keeps slipping and I'll be tugging it up all night.

  • It's still too long and I keep stepping on the hem.

  • I ordered it online and it fits nothing like the photos.

  • The wedding is weeks away and every seamstress is booked.

  • I'm scared someone will cut it wrong and ruin it.

Every one of these can be fixed. Here's how to avoid them in the first place.

A hem is measured from the floor. If you're pinned in flats and walk down the aisle in three-inch heels, the dress ends up too short. Pin it in heels and switch to flats for the reception, and you're stepping on it all night.

Bring the exact shoes and undergarments you'll wear on the day to every fitting. A different bra or shapewear changes how the bodice sits, too.

The second most common mistake is starting too late. Book your first fitting 8–10 weeks before the wedding. Gowns brought in less than 4 weeks out incur a rush fee.

The fitting mistake to avoid

How the fittings work

  • First fitting
Once your dress arrives, we pin and mark every adjustment on you.

  • About three weeks later
Second fitting. If everything is right, you take your dress home.

  • Third fitting, if needed
We refine anything that isn't perfect yet.

Ready to start? Pick a time that works for you. Getting married in less than 4 weeks? We can still help.

Wedding coming fast? Don't panic.

Bringing your gown in less than 4 weeks before the wedding? We can still help, whether the dress arrived late or another shop couldn't fit you in.

A rush fee applies to gowns brought in under 4 weeks out. Call with your date and we'll tell you what's possible.

Bought your dress somewhere else? Bring it in.

We alter wedding dresses from anywhere: online orders, other boutiques, and sample sales. You don't have to have bought it from us.

Online dresses often arrive with fit surprises. We see it all the time and know how to reshape them.

From a simple hem to a full reshape, our in-house seamstress handles it all.

What we alter

  • Hems
Measured with your wedding shoes on, so the length is right the moment you walk.

  • Bustles that last all night
Built for your dress's fabric and weight so it holds through the dancing. You'll practice it before you leave.

  • Taking in and letting out
Bodice, waist, and hips reshaped so the dress fits the way you pictured it.

  • Straps and sleeves
Added or adjusted so a strapless gown stays where it belongs.

  • Cups and bodice support
Sewn-in cups and structure so you feel secure all day.

  • The whole wedding party
Bridesmaid, mother of the bride, and flower girl dresses, plus evening gowns, prom, and formal wear.

Your gown is safe with us

Most alteration horror stories come from cutting before the bride has seen the fit. We work the other way around.

  1. Book a 45-minute fitting
Pick a time below or call. Bring your dress, wedding shoes, and undergarments.

  2. See the fit before we sew
We pin and mark every change on you, so you see the fit first. You get your price before any work begins.

  3. Try it on again
About three weeks later you try it on. If it's perfect, it goes home with you. If not, we fit it again.
